DAVID WALKER is a limited partner of Neblett, Beard & Arsenault. He joined the firm in 1985 after a judicial clerkship. Mr. Walker is recognized by his peers as a Louisiana SuperLawyer by Law & Politics publication, Louisiana SuperLawyers®.
Focusing on personal injury and consumer litigation, Mr. Walker has been counsel in over one thousand litigated cases and has been retained in over two thousand personal injury cases. He has always been involved in litigation, concentrating on 18 wheeler/trucking collisions, tour bus - motor coach accidents and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations; Admiralty and Maritime Law; Death on the High Seas; Insurance Contract Coverage; Motor Vehicle Collisions; and Products Liability Law. Mr. Walker’s accounting degree and experience in the public accounting field, along with his business acumen, provide a background to competently handle business, securities and financial litigation.
Mr. Walker has litigated numerous cases and negotiated many significant settlements, including: a multiple 18 wheeler collision with a passenger vehicle; a helicopter crash in the Gulf of Mexico; an insulating contractor with mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure; a land pipeline worker burned in an explosion; a motor vehicle accident victim hit by a drunk driver; a barge worker killed by an explosion of an underwater gas pipeline; and considerable lawsuits involving Jones Act seamen. Mr. Walker has been invited to membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum ™.
In 2009, Mr. Walker has been invited to speak at the Louisiana State Bar Association’s 16th Annual Admiralty Symposium. In 2008, Mr. Walker appeared before the Supreme Court of Louisiana in a UM insurance case.
The key to a successful trial and resolution of a case is preparation. Mr. Walker methodically details the evidence to capture the important points for the jury. He utilizes a PowerPoint story board for presentations and incorporates technology into simple story telling techniques to captivate the juror’s attention. He also advocates effective communication with clients to ensure they are up to date on the progress of their case, their needs are promptly met, and their questions are quickly answered. Mr. Walker has a committed passion to obtain justice for his clients as efficiently and quickly as possible.
Mr. Walker is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and Texas, and admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has taught courses in negligence and offshore injury and lectured on trial techniques. He is a member of the Louisiana and Texas State Bar Associations, American Association for Justice, the Louisiana Association for Justice (President’s Advisory Counsel 1989 1995), Master of the Bench of the Crossroads American Inns of Court, and the AAJ Interstate Trucking Litigation Group.
Mr. Walker earned his law degree in 1984 from Southern University Law Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, cum laude, was on the Moot Court Board and was a candidate of the Law Review. Mr. Walker also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
He and his wife, Janet, have three children.
